Igor Thiago - joint infection
Brentford forward Igor Thiago (23) developed a joint infection in mid-December 2024, which kept him sidelined for an extended period. Brentford manager Thomas Frank initially expressed uncertainty over his recovery timeline, later confirming on 23 December that the infection would rule him out for several weeks.
By 14 February 2025, Thiago was expected to start running the following week, though Frank acknowledged he was still far from a return. On 7 March, the manager confirmed that Thiago had begun running on grass, marking a key milestone in his rehabilitation.
Although there is optimism that Thiago could return before the season ends, no clear timeline has been set. He must complete his transition into full training before making a potential comeback, with the March international break seen as a key stage in his recovery.
Update 1 April 2025
Frank says Igor Thiago's recovery has been "slower" but insists there's been no setback.
“Thiago is progressing, going a little bit slower, but progressing. He’s just building the muscle volume and strength around the knee and make sure we tick all the strength markers. He's running and he's also part of training, so it's going forward.” (Source: Sam Tabuteau, The Borough of Hounslow Herald)
