Injury

Aaron Hickey - hamstring

13 March 2025 by Thomas Anderson

Brentford defender Aaron Hickey (22) sustained a severe hamstring injury in late 2023, which required surgery and kept him sidelined for the 2023/24 season. Although he was initially ruled out for the remainder of the year, a minor setback in February further delayed his comeback.

By 20 February 2025, Brentford manager Thomas Frank confirmed that Hickey had returned to full training and was performing well. On 28 February, he took a significant step forward in his recovery by playing 45 minutes and scoring for Brentford’s B team.

As of 7 March, Hickey is focused on rebuilding his fitness and is aiming to make his senior return after the international break in early April. Brentford is managing his recovery carefully to ensure he regains full strength before rejoining first-team action.

Update Tuesday 1 April 2025

Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry and Gustavo Nunes will "hopefully" play before the end of the season. Newcastle is too soon for any of them. Rico is "furthest ahead" out of the trio. (Source: Sam Tabuteau, The Borough of Hounslow Herald)
