Newcastle United defender and captain Jamaal Lascelles (31) continues his recovery from a significant knee injury sustained in March 2024 (Source: Newcaste United).
After undergoing surgery for a torn ACL, he was initially targeting a return in January 2025. (Source: BBC)
However, persistent setbacks have delayed his progress. As of late February 2025, Lascelles began individual training sessions, including running on grass, but was not yet participating in team activities. Manager Eddie Howe stated that Lascelles is "probably looking towards the end of the season as a return date." (Source: Newcaste United).
Given the timeline, Lascelles may not feature in Newcastle's upcoming fixtures until May 2025.
Update Tuesday 1 April
Eddie Howe on Jamaal Lascelles: "I don't know if we will see Jamaal again this season and I don't want to set a target or time. He has started very light training with the squad." "We are hoping to get him to join in and competing before the end of the season." (source: Mouth of the Tyne)
Newcastle United can confirm that club captain Jamaal Lascelles suffered a rupture to the ACL in his right knee during Saturday’s victory over West Ham United.
