Injury

Richarlison - calf

13 March 2025 by Thomas Anderson

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison (27) is currently sidelined due to a calf injury sustained during the Carabao Cup match against Liverpool on 6 February 2025. The Brazilian was forced off in the first half of Spurs' 4-0 defeat after feeling discomfort in his calf. Following the match, manager Ange Postecoglou expressed concern over the severity of the issue, stating: "It looks like his calf. It didn't look too good after the game, so probably one to add to the list." (Source: Jay Harris, The Athletic)

Subsequent medical assessments confirmed a calf strain, ruling Richarlison out for several weeks. On 14 February 2025, Postecoglou estimated the recovery period to be around two to three weeks.

By 25 February, the manager reported that Richarlison was making good progress and could return within 7–10 days, barring any setbacks. However, despite the optimistic timeline, the Brazilian did not recover in time for the subsequent matches (Source: The Athletic)

On 13 March, Postecoglou confirmed in a press conference that Richarlison was back in individual training on grass and was working hard on his recovery. While he was still unavailable for selection, the manager indicated that he was expected to be back after the March international break (Source: Tottenham Hotspur)

Barring complications, Richarlison is targeting an early April return.

Update Wednesday 2 April 2025

This is what Postecoglou said during his pre-match press conference. "Richy (Richarlison) is training, probably not tomorrow but a chance for the weekend if he keeps training with the first team as he has been and he's getting better".
